New Active Directory

I have a domain abc.com in win2000 but i'm not going to migrate the domain
to 2003. My boss wants to create a new Active Directory 2003 def.com and
create all the same users and OU's existing on abc.com to the new domain
def.com.

ok !! my problem is that I need to create that domain using the same
physical subnet so what can I do about it !

May I have both domains in the same physical segment without problems. Or
that it is not possible?
The point is I can't down the operation I need to find a health way to
interact with both domains and move computers to the new domain and log in
on the new users in the new domain .

I have domain abc.com(win2000) with 2 DC's (ip=192.168.1.1 -192.168.1.2 )
def.com (2003) with 2 DC's I need to begin the process of move the
operation to this domain but at the same time use that ip segment
simultaneously !!

i hope the explanation is right way

Thanks any comments !!

Domains are mutually exclusive from subnets (they have no explicit
relation). You can set that up with no problem.

ok, the if a use this scenario:
DC= unk.abc.com =192.168.1.1
DC=ink.def.com=192.168.1.2

Both DC's have not explicit relation !! Besides that both domains share the
same physical subnet.?

In that cases I can begin the process to move computers from the domain 1
to the domain 2 without problem; What could happen with the Domain Master
Browser for instance if both differents domains are in the same segment

Thanks for the comments !!

each subnet has its master browsers and backup browsers and each
domain (independent of subnets) will have its own domain master
browser which by default is the DC with the PDC role
