New system running Windows XP. I can PING other systems
IP's successfully but I get a failure when I PING my own
IP! I have tried different network cards with the same
result.

Disable all firewalls including XP's ICF while testing.

get a timeout when trying to PING new XP system. Use of
NET VIEW yields an error 53.
