Networking XP and 98

I have 2 machines, one running XP home, and the other
running Win98. I bought a linksys wireless router and a
wireless-G card. The router is directly connected to my
XP machine, and the wireless card is on the 98 machine. I
also have my cable internet connection running through
the router. I am able to access the internet on both
computers, but i am unable to establish a network between
the two. I have tried making an XP network setup disk,
but when i try to run it on the 98 machine, it says that
some required hardware was not found. any suggestions
would be helpful.

do you have something shared on the XP computer? What does
it say when you try to connect to it?

the only thing shared b/w the two is the internet
connection. When i open up network neighborhood on the 98
machine the only computer that shows up is itself. both
computers are in the same workgroup with unique names.

I used to endure constant nightmares trying to get my
network to function using win98. But now that I have XP
running on all my machines [7], I live in network
paradise; no problems ever [well hardly ever], but mostly
never a problem. XP is far more efficient when it comes
to handling networking. I would strongly suggest
installing XP on BOTH your machines, and your headaches
should cease. Good luck, M
