Like Gibby, I am also having problems networking my
desktop which is running ME with my laptop which is
running XP. We followed the instructions that you gave
Gibby but this hasnt solved our problem. When the laptop
(XP) tries to access shared files on the desktop (ME) we
get an error message stating that the laptop does not have
permission to use this network resource and that the
network path was not found. We are using the desktop (ME)
as the server. Also, when we try to indicate a file on
the desktop that want to share, we get a message saying
that it must be added to a list first. How do we do
this? We would really appreciate any suggestions/help you
can give. Thanks

what do you get if using net view \\mehostname? if it is system error 5,
this is permission issue; if it is 53, this is name resolution issue.

Can you still see the computer's name in the workgroup? Or
is it just the filesharing that's disabled and the shared
internet connection runs fine? This could be the same
problem I'm having with my 5 PCs (3 with XP, 1 with ME, 1
with 98) that can't access one PC (XP), but otherwise can
read everyone else. I still haven't fixed it though.
