Networking with XP

Alf Doiron

I have a 2 computer network, main and laptop. The
computers are connected to a router, and the router is
connected to the Internet via a broadband connection. I
have no problem connecting to the internet with both
computers, however, I cannot seem to share resources
between the two computers. I can ping the main locally,
in addition, I can ping the router and the laptop from
the main. I can ping the laptop locally and I can also
ping the router from the laptop but I cannot ping the
main from the laptop. Both computers are in the same
workgroup. I am running XP Professional on main and XP
Home on the laptop. The IP address for the router is
192.168.0.1 for the main 192.168.0.2 and for the laptop
192.168.0.3 I have run the network setup wizard on both
computers. I have also run the network troubleshooter.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

The Firewall strikes again, typically when this happens
the PC that you can't ping has it's built in firewall
enabled. Go to help on that pc and follow the instructions
on how to dissable the firewall. Replace with something
more user friendly, like Norton personal firewall.
