Networking with XP Home and Router

Hi hope someone can help. Currently trying to network a desktop and a laptop both running XP Home. Cable internet connection via a router works fine on both but the file sharing etc is where it all falls down. on the desktop when clicking on "My network places" my 'local network' appears with the various shared folders etc but when I go to 'view workgroup computers" is says my laptop is not accessible...network path not found. I have run the networking wizard on both. On the laptop it will not allow me to view the 'workgroup computers'...the same message appears....'not accessible'. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

First check that all firewalls including XP's built-in Internet Connection
Firewall (ICF) are disabled or removed. Then ensure all computers are in
the same workgroup and same subnet. See:

for setup and configuration instructions.
