Networking with XP Desktop

I have a desktop with Windows XP SP2. I have just purchased a notewbook with
Windows Vista. I have a Netgear Wireless router attached to the desktop, to
allow internet access from the notebook.

I'm trying to set up my home network so the notebook can acces the hard
drive and the printer attached to the desktop. I've shared the C drive and
printer on the destop. Both the desktop and the notebook have the same
workgroup name, but I still can't find the destop from the notebook.

I've heard this may be a firewall issue. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Do you have a wireless router between two computers? posting the results of both computers ipconfig may help.

I wish you posted all ipconfig /all so that we could have all information. Any way, can you ping a public IP?

Im running into the same problem, except I only have Norton Anti-Virus. I've
looked and do not think Norton Anti-virus has a firewall...Any other ideals?

Eric,
Open NAV options and temporarily disable Internet Worm Protection and test.

I was able to see the Desktop after adjusting the Norton IS settings to allow
the IP address for the notebook. However, there is now another issue. I
have "Shared" some document folders and printers. I have two users on the
Desktop. I have shard both folders. However, when I use the notebook, I can
only access one of the Shared folders. The other one gives me an Access
Denied error, even though the folder is Shared on the Desktop. Any ideas?

Thanks.
