I successfully set up a wired network (Ethernet) between
a new XP computer and two older 98 and ME computers, but
suddenly, the network won't work anymore. When I ping
the IP addresses of the three computers from the XP
computer, I get responses to the other two but not to the
host XP computer. How can this be? All three computers
are connected to a Linksys router that then connects to a
cable modem. All three computers can successfully access
the Internet and the other two (the 98 and ME computers)
can access each other, but the newer XP computer no
longer can connect to the other two. In My Network
Places, where the other two computers are listed under
the Name column, it just says "Unknown" in the Computer
column and I get an error message when I click on them.
Any ideas?

One-way ping only

If you can ping other computers and other computers can't ping your
computer, this is often caused by an improperly configured firewall
on you computer. For example, ICF should not be enabled on LAN NIC.
