Networking Win 98 & Win XP with Automatic IP Addresses

T

Tom

I have actually running 2 Win 98 machines, 3 Win XP machines.
All of these go through a nice Netgear hub, into which is plugged the
Barricade ADSL Modem/Router.
Now when the all machines are set to Obtain Automatic IP address, XP
machines can see themselves, and same for 98 machines, but not each
other if you see what I mean. Now, I can set assigned IP addresses ad
all machines see themselves, but then cannot access easily the ADSL
through the network.
I've tried settings on the Router, but am not that good.
So I'd be ver grateful if someone can tell me how to have XP and 98
machines seeing each other and accessing ADSL internet.

Thanks a lot,
Trying to fix this for a small law firm, so you can guess it's pretty
problematic...

Enable Windows Login on the Win98 systems, and create named user accounts
(username plus passwords) on both the Win98 and the XP systems for your user
community.

That'll fix it for good...
