Networking to Linux server

I have an old Linux Server with archived folders on it. We used this server when we were stil on a LAN hub. We had no problems getting on to the server from our XP machines. Now we have a Wireless Network. My boss asked to see the archives and I am desperately trying to get the Linux server on to our Network. I have tried two things. First I used a network cable and hard wired it to our Lynksis Wireless Acces Point through an ethernet connection. None of our computers in the office was able to detect the Linux server. Second I unplugged one of the XP machines from the Wireless Network and connected both the XP and the Linux on to a Ethernet Hub. I pretty much tried to set it up like it once was. The XP machine sees itself on the network but stil not the Linux. The power light of the hub and both the LPT ports for the XP and the Linux are lit

What am I missing here. It sucks to have a time crunch and being stuck like this

Have you tried installing Samba on your Linux machine?

My hunch is you are just plugging it into the new newtork and hoping it
works. Surely there are some settings in the box which will have to be
set to explain to it that it's part of a new network. Also, you don't
mention it, but you will need Samba running and configured properly.

Go to to http://www.tldp.org/index.html "Linux Documentation Project" to
read the "how to's" on networking. It's not complicated, but more than
"wishing" it to work needs to be done.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
