Networking - The network path was not found

a little help please ....

I have a home network of 3 computers all running xp home edition. The
network is all hard wired to a switch which connects to an adsl router which
provides the access to the internet. I have Norton internet security 2006
installed on all 3 machines. DHCP is running.

All the computers can access the internet without problem. two of the
computers can access each other and share files without issue. The 3rd
however cannot access the other 2 and cannot be accessed by the other 2
either and the error reported is "the network path was not found"

The problem machine cannot ping the other two or vice versa but the problem
machine can oing the router / gate way without problem.

I have disabled the firewalls on all machines without any difference made.

The problem machine shows the "shared folders" in the "my network places"
tab however when I view workgroup computers i only see the problem machine.

The "working" machines also see the problem machine sharded folders but
again in the view workgroup tab they do not see the problem machine.

Ive been through all the MS support database but cant see a way to fix or
even to wipe the lot and start again !!!!

Any ideas please ??

Chris,

Disabling a personal firewall (which one?) is not always productive. There are
several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem.
Read this article with an open mind.

Make sure that your NetBT setting is consistent on all computers - either
Disable or Enable - Default is a frequent problem.

You might look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):

Chris,

No, that's what this forum is for. Let's take a look at your diagnostics -
"browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config
workstation", from each computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

The above articles are where you start. But there's more to be done. And as we
continue, how about you post after my posts. Help me to help you.
