File Sharing does not function when new machine added to network

I've been running a LAN for years without any significant problems. I've been
able to add and remove machines from the network without adversely affecting
file sharing amongst any of the machines.

Recently however, I've added a new machine to the network, and while it is
connected, none of the machines can view the workgroup MSHOME except for the
new one, which is unable to access any of the shared files. Once this machine
is removed from the network, all file-sharing and workgroup viewing returns
to normal.

All machines are running XP Pro-SP2 and can access the internet. I have
already tried running network setup wizard, and restarting both the computer
monitor and server services. Simple file-sharing is enabled on all machines.
All of the old machines are using default network setup wizard settings for
use on a network running through a router. The new machine has been set up
the same way as well, but obviously something is wrong with the
configuration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the problem computers services and check to see if the
computer browser service is running?

Check the NetBT and personal firewall settings on all computers, and make sure
that they are all consistent.

Or look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from the problem computer and 2
others, when all are connected, and diagnose the problem. Read this article,
and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Yes, the computer brower service is running. I even tried restarting the
service, and it still did not fix the problem.

I've check all of the machines with "ipconfig /all" and the only notable
difference between them is that the problem machine states: "Node Type:
Peer-Peer" and all of the other machines list it as: "Node Type: unknown"

Thank You. Deleting the registry entry worked. Immediately after restart,
the entire network returned to normal, all computers can file-share,
including the problem machine.

That would be it. Thanks for the feedback.
