I have a PC and a Laptop which are netwoked together via a crossover
cable. The PC is the Host and the Laptop the Guest.

Couple of questions:

1. What would be involved in changing the Laptop to the host. Whould I
have to remove the current network somehow and create a new one with
Network Wizard, or can I change the current network somehow?

2. Is it possible to have 2 networks set up on the same two systems with
different configurations, changing from one to the other as required?

Thanks

In a simple network via crossover cable and NIC's, there is no host and
guest.. in Direct Cable Connection, there is a host and guest..

So what kind of cable are you using?..

Although you may think of one as the host and the other as the guest, in a
Windows workgroup (the kind of network you undoubtedly have in a
two-computer network with a crossover cable) these terms are meaningless.
This is a peer-to-peer network, with both computers having equal status.
There's nothing to change.

What OS are you running?

Most have already answered, but do you mean that the Desktop has the modem
and links to the internet because if that is the case then it's not strictly
peer to peer and not quite as simple to change around...

Can you explain any internet connection you have and what versions of XP ?
