Networking issues

I have been having an interesting experience with Vista since installing
it. Long story short, whenever I boot into Vista, it keeps connecting
and disconnecting my network connection, until it knocks out the port in
the switch temporarily. If I reboot into XP, I still don't have
connectivity until I switch ports. The ports that get knocked out
always work again after waiting a bit. I'm pretty sure it's not just
the switch because it happens only with my machine when booted into
Vista and it has happened on more than one switch. Here are the event
log entries from Vista listed below. My nic is integrated to my epox
motherboard with an nforce 3/250 chipset, using the integrated Vista
driver for the nic. The nic is the NVIDIA nforce networking controller,
driver dated 1/2006. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I
could do to address this issue? Thanks.

Sounds like the problem is the "onboard NIC", you said the issue is not
specific to Windows Vista, so I suggest getting a dedicated NIC and install
it and see how that goes.

Yes Andre, I was thinking that also, but it is always Vista that causes
the problem. It's just that after Vista knocks out the port on the
switch, then even after booting into XP, I still don't have network
connectivity until I change ports on the switch. XP never actually
causes the problem. But I'll try another nic as you suggest. Any
suggestions? Who here has a dedicated nic that plays well with Vista?
Thanks again for your reply. :)

I threw in a Netgear FA311 card because that's what I had lying around,
and it works fine now. I also had to disable the onboard nforce card.
But it is working well. Thanks for the input Andre.
