From what I have read from similar previous posts (maybe
someone can give you a more definitive answer)you should
be able to read any files on the cd (subject to
appropriate permissions/sharing)but you can't actually
write to it.I think this is only possible on the local
machine.

P.S you may be able to transfer files etc over the
network to your laptop then burn them from there - or use
a remote control program to access the laptop if it is in
a different location
