I'm having the same problem with XP and 98ME. When I
click on the computer in Networking, it asks me for a
password, but I did not give a password for the computer
when I set it up, so nothing I enter is correct.

You need to have a account with a same username and password on both the
machines.
Create a account on W2K machine with a username and a password and log on to
windows 98 machine with that username and password.
Make sure that you log on to "Client for Microsoft Networks"
