.... I tried to do a network connection but could not do it .. Can someone
give me a step-by-step set-up

Thank you

MrB,

I looked over the 'Helming' site and my eyes glazed over.

Honda,

Providing you have a working network on each PC....if not, you just may have
to go to that site or something similar or do some simple 'Do it yourself'
things available in WindowsXP such as 'Set up a home or small office
network' task available from your "My Network Places'

1) Make sure that both PC's use same workgroup (see System properties -
Computer name). The default is Workgroup but if you have used the 'Set up a
home or small office network' task it may have been changed on one or both
machines to MSHOME. So see to it that both machines use same name.

2) Set the sharing of desired drive to or folder to ON in order to make it
accessible from the other PC.

Now try it.

Hi,

To use a cross connect cable between two computers, you
simply need to do is change some settings for your TCP/IP
connections. Go to control panel, then network
connections. Right click on Local Area Connection xx
select properties. Go to Internet Protrocol (TCP/IP) and
click on properties. Choose Use the following IP address,
for simple sake just use IP address 192.168.1.1, subnet
mask 255.255.255.0 click okay, on the second computer, do
the same steps, but change the IP address to 192.168.1.2.
click okay, now both computers can communicate with each
other. You may have to reboot each computer. Make sure
the folders you want to access is setup for sharing. Once
you finished, change the IP address back to Obtaion an IP
address automatically.

Jeff

Thanks for all the help ... I got it after 4 hrs of what do I do next ....
God I love a challenge
