Networking 2 computers with an ethernet cable

I am trying to figure out how to network my Dell
Workstation 530 with my new Dell Inspiron 8500 using an
ethernet cable only; both use Windows XP Professional.

connect the two with a twisted ethernet cable

If you have a network card on both, connect the cable,
then open network places on one computer, then run 'set up
home or small office network' then run it on the other
computer. Thats it!

Make sure it's a crossover cable. A stanard patch cable won't work.
