Yes you can, if you are not using a hub or router between
them, that would require 2 cables.
But you need a crossover cable to connect 2 comps together
with just 1 cable, a crossover cable is not the same as a
regular ethernet cable, just goto a computer store and ask
for a crossover ethernet cable and tell them how long you
need it to be.
