network won't work

I having trouble having Windows XP detecting my network
card. It doesn't show it in Device Manager. I have it
connected to a router and the LED light is on, and the
lights in the back of the PC are also on. Just that there
is no NIC in Device Manager. Any suggestions?
 
Read the instructions that came with the network card and install the
drivers following those instructions?
