I run two machines on a home LAN. One for office use and the other is
of course for gaming. Neither has had any issues for quite a while.
Turned on the gamer (it has two NIC ports but I only use one) and it
is showing that neither NIC has any connectivity(shows "UNPLUGGED")
In fact, no led light at either port. No light on multiple ports on
router. So, I checked:
router -works fine as I am using it right now on
the office PC, but tried two routers anyway
cables -multiple cables I know are good but don't
help
both NIC ports -both dead
system reset -nope
device manager -shows no issues
disable/reenable -nope
And the system itself is running fine. I checked the Component
Services in Admin and I found dozens of errors that each show:
"Source=DCOM"
"This machine-default permission seetings do not grant
Local Activation permission for COM Server application with CLSID {big
long series of letter and numbers} to user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVIC
SID {S-1-5-20}. This security permission can be modified using the
Component Services administrative tool"
Any suggestions?
