Network Windows 2000 Pro & XP Home edition

I know this question has been asked many times, but here it is again.
I have 2 computers. One runs Win2K Pro and the other runs XP Home
edition. Both computers are connected to a cable router. I recently
had to reinstall Win2k. Before reinstalling, everything worked fine;
I was able to share files and the printer (which is connected to my XP
computer). After reinstalling Win2k I can no longer share my printer.
I have no problems accessing the files on the XP computer from the
Win2K computer. Although I can access the win2K files from the XP
computer, I now must enter a username and password (which I didn't
have to do before). I have read some of the posts and enabled NetBios
over TCP/IP on the Win2K computer, but have not changed any of the
settings on the XP computer (if it worked before why shouldn't it work
now?). Any suggestions?

Make sure that the login/password for each machine exists identically on the
other.

I am having communication problems between XP and 2000 computers (and XP and
XP machines too) similar to this. Why would the accounts need to match - can't
it just ask for Username and Password and then check the box to Remember my
password? I don't understand how XP & 2000 track and determine user access
rights. Can you explain?

Thanks,
Colin
