Network two Win XP Pro laptops with crossover cable

I have a Win XP Pro laptop and a Win 2K laptop from work that both
belong to the Apollo domain (at work). I have both laptops at home and
want to transfer files from one laptop to the other using a crossover
cable. I setup static IP addresses (192.168.1.200 and 192.168.1.201)
and I can ping each laptop from the other. When I drill down into
Entire Network -> Microsoft Windows Network -> Apollo domain, I see
both laptops.
From the Win 2K laptop, when I click on the Win XP Pro laptop name, I
get a popup that says "\\Laptop-2 is not accessable. There are
currently no logon servers available to service the logon request."
Both laptops have the same username & password.
From the Win Xp Pro laptop, when I click on the Win 2K laptop name, I
get a login popup but cannot login using any of the Win 2K
usernames/passwords.

I do have folders shared on both laptops.

Does anybody have an ideas on how to network two domain laptops at home
without a domain controller?

Thanks for the info. I just figured it out piecing info together from
the articles. I was logged into both laptops using my domain account
that is cached and is the same on both laptops. Apparently, when I
tried to access a shared folder on the other laptop, it was looking for
a domain controller to validate my account. I created a local account
on both laptops (that are the same) and I am able to access shared
folders on either laptop. I knew that the account on both laptops had
to be the same and my cached domain account is the same on both, but I
didn't know that the accounts had to be local accounts.
I hope this makes sense,
