Network. Switching on one pc starts the other

I have set up networking between my laptop(WXP) and my desktop(W98SE) and
all working but when I start my laptop the desktop immediately satrts. How
can I prevent this?

Go into the desktop's BIOS setup program and disable "Wake on LAN".

I checked and the title Modem Ring/Wake on LAN was already disabled
