network starting problem

Can anyone help please.

We have two machines we are trying to link. I tried just
linking the two but failed. I've now got a 3COM 12 way
hub but I'm still failing. One machine is Windows XP, the
other is XP professional. Should this cause a problem?. I
have gained two network connections I can't delete,
however I try. One is "1394 connection", the other is
a "network bridge". How can I reset everything and start
again.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

delete the network bridge if u dont need it.

Thanks for the reply but I can't get rid of the bridge or
the other unwanted connection, I've tried all the obvious
ways.
