Network Share asking for a password

Hi,

Windows XP Pro connecting to another Windows XP Pro computer. File &
Printer Sharing on. User Name and Password are turned off on all shares on
all computers.

Firewall is off.

I can see the network share in My Network Places, but when I try to open it,
I get asked for a password: http://mikebehrens.com/picture001.jpg

Also, I can print to the network printer on the same computer.

What am I missing here?

Thanks, Mike

Two possible solutions:

1. In the "Connect to becky" box, enter the user name and password of
an account that's defined on the Becky computer.

or:

2. Create a user account on Becky that has the same user name and
password that you use to log onto the other computer.

Thanks Steve, that was part of the problem. None of the users on that
computer had passwords. (The shame. . .) Well that's fixed now, and I CAN
see the files in the shared folder, but when I try to copy files from that
share to my computer, I get the "access denied error"

See http://mikebehrens.com/picture002.jpg

I went into the shared folder's properties and gave "full access" to
"everyone" and I still get this error.

Thanks again!

You're welcome, Mike. Two things to check:

1. Can you open and read a file from the shared folder?

2. Can you create a file in the folder that you're trying to copy
files to? Try simply running Wordpad and saving a file in that
folder. If that folder is on the local machine, it would be unusual
to have access denied.

O.K. I can access AND copy files in the shared folder, but I cannot access
or copy any files in the sub-folders. I see the files in the sub-folders,
but cannot open.

Also, I can save file into both the shared folder, and any of the
sub-folders.

Could there be a setting to share a folder AND all of its sub-folders?

Thanks again,

-Mike-
