Hello,
I just bought an Linksys wireless WPC54GX adapter. I have an old Linksys dsl
router. I'm trying to create a network with set up home network. My desktop
is connected with cable and my laptop is wireless. I can connect to the
internet with my desktop but not my laptop. I have verizon dsl and it asks me
for dial up user name and password. I can't connect with my laptop. What
setting should I use during set up for the laptop. I also created a mshome
network but keep getting an error when I look for other computer's connected
to this workgroup, mshome is not accessible. On my desktop I can see the
laptop but can not access either with the same message. Please help, this is
driving me crazy and I keep trying different connections.
Thank,

Chas,

How exactly is the desktop connecting to the service, when it is asked for user
name and password? Is this dialup, or is it DSL using PPPoE? Is the router
connected when you're entering user name and password? How are each computer
connecting to each other?

The way it should work:
# Connect the router to the DSL modem, and both computers to the router.
# Configure the router to handle PPPoE, and put the user name and password on
the router.
# Both computers should then connect to the router, and the MSHome workgroup
should work.

Once you get Internet working on both computers, then we can tackle the two
computers and their access (or lack) to each other. Take it one step at a time.

Hello Chuck,
Thanks for your last reply.

What I did was connect both computers, hard wire, to the internet modem than
router and set up wireless connection with Linksys on the notebook, desktop
will stay wired. I now have a internet connection on both. From my desktop,
main computer, I can see my notebook drives but I can't find my desktop
drives from my notebook. If I try to use Windows network setup and create a
workgroup, I loose internet access and still can not access the desktop from
the notebook. I can see the both computers in the workgroup for the notebook
and desktop but can not access desktop from notebook.
Again, Thanks,
chas638

OK, get the Internet working on both computers, then run "browstat status" and
"ipconfig /all" from each computer, and post all 4 logs here.
