I don't know why the Wizard won't run, but here's how to set up ICS
without using the Wizard:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the connection that you want to share.
3. Click Properties.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Put a check mark in the box "Allow other network users to connect
through this computer's Internet connection".

That i would normally be able to do but the option to
share the connection is not available. I am guessing ICS
is not installed hence needing to use the network setup
wizard.

It sounds like there is more going on here than has been mentioned.
What exactly led to this situation? What is the history?
What is the type of Internet connection?
How is the network set up?
How many computers involved?
Are they all running XP?
Is this XP Home or Pro?
Is XP Service Pack 1 installed?
Is there any third-party firewall installed?
Has this system been scanned for viruses and spywares?

has anyone solved this problem yet? because i'm havin gthe same problems

before i was running my internet through a different router, (2wire home portal)... i think that router has a user friendly network seter uper type thing, making my networking easy. then i switched to a linksys router which in the past i've been able to set up a network for before without much difficutly. When i go to run the network wizard in one computer, at first it didn't run, and i found a way around it (maybe some of you should try this one) i went to (oh yea, both are running XP home), i went to view my network connections, then click on create a new connection, then clicked the radio button "set up a home or small office network" in which it'll then tell me that the network setup wizard will run... which it did on computer 1. ... After going through the network wizard on computer 1 i'm able to find compter one on the network from it's self (from computer one i go to network workgroup and itself shows up)...

now computer 2 when i click on network wizard directly did the same thing as computer 1, nothing. So i tried the work around like i did on computer 1, cept it doesn't work (it says it'll launch network wizard in the end, but doesn't). and when i go to view workgroup computers on computer 2, nothing shows up, even it's self does not show up. i'm thinking if i can get itself to show up, so will the other computer, but i think to get itself to show up, i'm gonna have to get the network wizard to work, which won't run and hence, my problem

can anyone help? thanks.
