Network setup wizard won't start

Is there any way to network two computers without using the setup wizard on
XP? I have two computers that are networked through a router and sharing an
internet connection but I can't set them up to see each other because for
some reason the network setup wizard won't start. I tried installing
additional components from the XP CD but it still won't start. Also, when I
try to view my network connections the window is blank. Any help or
suggestions will be much appreciated.
