Network scanner installation fails

I am managing a network (domain) in which a Brother MFC-8820D is used as a
network scanner. Last week we decided to upgrade workstations (old ones were
+5 years) to Dell optiPlex GX620. While reinstalling the MFL-Pro suite used
by Brother for the scanner installation, I am notified of a 'Network scanner
registration failure'.

I believe I have tried everything:
- Uninstalled antivirus
- Stopped Windows Firewall while installing
- Run install with only Microsoft services (using MSConfig)
- Upgraded Desktop System Software, Chipset and BIOS and retried install
- Removed the computer from the domain and retried install

No matter what, installation fails. I've even tried to see if I can tweak
the installed scanner myself, but without any result. For instance, the
network IP (or node name) are blank when I examine the Scanners properties.
However, if I set these manually and then close and reopen the property
dialog, the fields are blank again.

I've spoken to Brother and they suggested a BIOS conflict.

I am really at my wits end with this. Please help.

Hi

I have been having the same problems! However, after playing ouround
for hours on end i found that if you clean the registry using
regcleaner then you will be able to install the brother software. I
think it may have been caused by a conflict of registry keys.

Hope this helps!
