Network questions

I have a fresh copy of XP installed. I am trying to share a drive over
the network. The first thing I notice is the sharing options are
different.

When I right click on sharing I get this:

I am not familiar with this. My other XP machine has less options.

Anyway when I try to share the drive the default is d$. If I use that
then the icon of the hand holding the drive does not show up in the
control panel.

If I pick new share and change the drive to d the drive icon shows the
drive is shared but nothing shows up in My Network Places.

1) Why is this sharing options screen different from my other machine?
2) How do I get these drives to show up in My Network Places?

The machine that you took a screen shot of was XP Professional. Are you sure
the other machine is Professional and not Home Edition? The reason I ask ia
because Home has less options.
