network problems

I have set up a new computer which is connected to a satellite connection. I
have to put 2 nics in 1 for the internet connection and the other for the
home net connections. all web apps work on the networked pc. I can ping both
ways on the home net connection and I can ping from the home net to the
internet outside via the internet connection. all setting are correct and
file and print sharing is set on the home net properties. the one thing I
cannot do is file and print sharing. can someone help me work this out
