network problems

I have installed network cards and cable between my two home pcs with the
intention of sharing my adsl connection, but no matter how i tweak the
settings, i just get the 'no connectivity' message, even when firewall
disabled.
Any ideas please - its driving me mad !

Need more details. What ADSL device, where do the cables run, how do
you have your TCPIP setup, how do you have the two computers hooked up
to the network, what does ipconfig say, what do the lights on the
devices tell you?
