Network printing static IP?

Ok, I am using DHCP to assign IP addresses to my network. Thanks to some
help from this forum I was able to get my printer on the printserver working.
However, whenever I shut everything down, the printer gets a new IP so I
have to reinstall the printer port each time. What I want to know is can I
assign a static IP to the printer within the range set in my router while the
PC's on the network continue to be assigned their IP's by the system?

Hi
Actually it is strongly recommended to assign a Static IP to Network shared
components, like Printer, NAS, etc.
The IP number has to be on the same subnet but out of the DHCP Range.
As an example, if DHCP range is 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.20 the printer
should be 192.168.1.30

hi,
you will have 2 options :
1. assign a static IP on the printer and modify the scope of dhcp to not
issue that IP
2. make a rezervation on DHCP for that printer (based on MAC address) to
issue for printer the same IP all the time.
