Network Printer problems

Hi

I have a network printer I usually connect to that has worked fine up
until now. I can still see it in the Printers & Faxes page. When I try
to do anything, it says the Print Spooler Service is not running. I
have checked using the Computer Management system, and it is running.
What is going on, and how can I print something?

Without you mentioning the printer by make / model, we can only give
you "general" guidelines to try to fix this:

1) Check every / any software firewall settings. The printer drivers
should be "permitted" to access thru the firewaal

2) Check any anti-virus software for Internet worm protection. This
type of module behaves just like a firewall and it needs to be
configured to let the printer drivers thru.

3) Check the network printer's IP address / sub-net mask.
a) Needs to be on the same IP network and use the same sub-net
mask
(ex: 192.168.10.254 / 255.255.255.0
b) The IP address needs to be the saem one in the printer and in
the printer drvier.

4) Last resort: Uninstall printer drivers. Look for revised /
updated drivers and download / re-install the drivers.

You might try stopping and restarting the print spooler service. Also check
the dependencies, RPC Locator and RPC services as well as the TCP/IP printer
services, stopping and starting those also. All those services should be
started and automatic. Highlight the service, right click, go to properties
to the general and dependencies tabs.
Open the printer and see if there are any documents that have errored out.
Pause printing and cancel all documents if there are.
