Network path cannot be found error

Please help. I can access the internet but i can't get to the files on the
filesever.
When I am trying to access the server I get the following message:
"\\Fileserver\data is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have permissions. The network path can't be found."

I am the administrator of the fileserver and I have set no passwords on the
pc's.

I did a network diagnostics and it gives me the following results:
Modems and Network adapters:
Modems
Network adapters - FAILED
DNS SERVERS - PASSED
DEFAULT GATEWAYS - PASSED
DHCP SERVERS - PASSED
IP ADDRESS - FAILED
WINS Servers -
NETWORK CLIENTS

Does anyone know what is wrong and can tell me how to correct it?
Is there any other test I should do so that I can find out what the root of
the problem is. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

First, check on both the client and the server for misconfigured / overlooked
firewalls, and for the registry setting restrictanonymous.

If no help, Please provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from the
client, and from the server. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely:

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.

Thanks for all your suggestions chuck. I turned off the firewall on the pc
which was denied access to the server and I can now get back on to it. Thanks
once again!

That's great news - thanks for letting us know. But remember, the firewall is
for your protection, as part of defense in depth. So please don't stop there -
configure the firewall so you're protected, and file sharing works.
