Network Passwords

Hi,

I'm on a large university network and would like to have shared folders that
can only be accessed by people with the correct username and password. I
don't want people just taking files from me and am wondering how I set it up
so that they find me in the 'View Network Computers' area of 'My Network
Places' and then when they double click my PC they have to enter a
username/password. I don't mind if the username is an autolisted one, as I
have set up a spare account for this use, but don't know how to make it work.
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition if that makes it easier for people to
help me.

Rob,

With XP Home, you only have Simple File Sharing and Guest access. What's
accessible by anybody on the network is accessible by all. You'll have to
upgrade to XP Pro.

Assign a network password to the Guest account. Anyone who wants to
access your files will have to type the password:

1. Click Start > Run.
2. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK:
3. Click Guest.
4. Click Reset Password.
5. Enter the desired password.
