OK I have users on a network who have Office 97 - 2003 versions on their
desktops. Most have been deployed via the CDROM but some have come as OEM
with new machines. My problem is I need everyone to point to a networked
version of normal.dot and I need to deploy this over the network. Can anyone
advise me on how best to do this without going round all machines

Thanks

You do *not* need to, and should not, point everyone to a single Normal.dot
on the network. Word gets very unhappy when you do that. Normal.dot is
supposed to be a local "scratchpad" for settings.

Instead, set up a login script to copy the network file to each local disk,
as described at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/DistributeMacros.htm.

Also be aware that, while Office 2000 through 2003 can (mostly) use the same
Normal.dot, Word 97 users should have their own version if you have any
macros in it. That's because VBA in Word 97 was built on Visual Basic 5,
while in 2000 and later it's based on VB 6.
