Network Nightmare

Please any help would be gratefully received
I am trying to put my desktop (connected to linksys router and onto DSL
modem via ethernet cable ) and a wireless laptop on a network
I run the network wizard on both (XP both) but can't see any workgroups.
When I click on view my workgroup nothing happenms
Tried starting browser service but gives' Eroor 1068-dependency or service
failed to start'
Soft reinstall xp with PC angel -no success
Am I missing something

Do you mean the "Computer Browser" service? It depends on the Server
and Workstation services. Make sure that they're running.

If that doesn't solve the problem, look for relevant messages in Event
Viewer. To run it, click Start | Control Panel | Performance and
Maintenance | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer. For more
