network logon questions

Vic

I have two home computers networked. One has XP PRO, the other XP Home.
The Home edition always prompts me for a name and password when trying
to access PRO's shared drives. How come? PRO does not to this when I
access Home's shared drives. Oh, also, there is no check box on the
name/password box to SAVE the password so every time I boot the PC's
Home prompts for the name/password again.

Sure would appreciate the solution!

Thanks
Vic

Make sure to use the same account name and the same password
when logging on to each machine. If you don't then you may be
treated as a stranger and challenged for a password.

Pegasus, I do use the exact name and password on both! Any ideas why I'm
being prompted? or why the info isn't saved?

Pegasus, you got me to thinking about passwords and realized I was not
logging into Windows Home Edition with a password, just as Vic. Thats
why I was being prompted for information when trying to access network
drives. Now I log into Windows with a password and am no longer prompted
for username/password when accessing network drives.

Thanks for your help!
