network/internet problems

I have a small LAN consisting of three computers and a
Linksys DSL Router. I do not have a server but I have the
router set in DHCP mode to assign IP addresses to each
computer.
One day I am booting up Computer B and it cannot connect
to the internet, but computer A and C had no problem.
From the DOS prompt, I could ping the other computers and
share files with all of the other computers with no
problem and even outside IP adresses, but I could not ping
the router.
I've unplugged everything, rebooted everything uninstalled
and reinstalled everything and still nothing.
I know that when I do a ipconfig/all the IP address is
pointing to a totally different number than the ones my
other computers use, and evern manually configuring the
TCP/IP, I still get no results.
I am very curious to find a solution to this problem and
hopefully someong will know the answer.

I had the same problem.
I have a similar setup to yours with 3 XP machines and a Win98 one. It
as the Win98 PC that acted up. It appears that the problem was not
with the router or modem at all but rather with the Network setting on
the PC.
I did the following and all is well now:
In Network setting in control panel, I changed the "Primary Network
Logon" from "Microsoft Family logon" to "Client for Microsoft
Network".
I'm not a pro so that's just my 2 cents - hope it helps some.

Have you tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew?
If yes, are your TCP/IP settings set to get your IP
address automatically and the same for you DNS settings?
