Network drives missing in Explorer

I have 2 Windows XP laptops on my network that occasionally don't display
their network drives in Windows Explorer. The drives get mapped automatically
through login scripts but they don't show up in the My Computer or anywhere
else in Windows Explorer. When this happens and you try to map them manually
it tells you that the network drive is already in use. The drives show mapped
properly in NET USE and if you end the explorer.exe and restart it, they show
up. So, this appears to be an issue with the explorer not displaying them
correctly even though they are mapped. I saw a couple of other newsgroup
posts about this same problem, but didn't see any resolution for it. Does
anyone have any idea why this happens or what we can do to solve it?
Thanks in Advance.

Yeah, when I made this post it kept giving me an error saying that it
wouldn't post. I eventually got one to go without the error, but evidently
the errors were invalid because the other ones posted too.

Anyhow, back to the problem. I didn't see anything on that web site related
to drives not showing up in Explorer but being available through other means
(run, DOS, restarting Explorer). Which one were you looking at?
Thanks!

Kurt,

you are right, none of the choices in the form refers directly
to this problem. However, it is still possible that filling the
form could yield a useful result.

But let's first do a few tests to find out more about the
problem.

1. When you experience the problem, is the Entire Network
subfolder also missing in My Network Places or Network
Neighborhood?

2. When you press the F5 key, do the mapped shares appear?

3. Do they appear if you just do nothing about them for 15
minutes? In other words, does the problem only appear within the
first 15 minutes after booting?
