Network desconnection

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I'm having this problem since two weeks ago. I'm using a DSL connection with
an ethernet modem. And now, no matter what I do the connections seems to
stop working something about 12 hours after I restart mi computer. Seems
that DNS stops working and if you look at the events viewer, it gives you a
system event saying that the DNS client cannot connect to any DNS server
after many tries, bla, bla, bla.

If I try to disconnect and reconnect it gives me an error #31 (what is that?
didn't find info).

I tried reseting and restarting the modem, tried others ISPs, the other nic,
manual DNSs, restarting TCP/IP, recreating connection, using RASPPPOE,
removing firewall (Outpost), removing antivirus (Kaspersky). The only thing
that I can think of that I didn't try was reinstalling Win :~(

I'm using WinXP SP2 with the latest updates, Asus A7N8X, don't know what
else you could need.

Any idea? I will post any information that you need, guys.

It sounds like a DHCP problem. Do you own the modem or is it leased from
your ISP?

Are you running a software firewall? If so, whose?
