Network Connection Wizard failed in XP/SP2

I have used the Internet Connection Wizard for connecting to a new I S P
when I had I. E. 6.0 under ME. I have not had any occasion to use it after
migrating to XP but the Dial-Up Networking has disappeared since I installed
XP. Now in order to connect to the Internet, I have to open I E and ask for
connecting to a web-site or open O E and click on Send and Receive button.
With those commands, the Dial-Up Networking Box opens up and the rest of the
operation goes smoothly, most of the times. This implies that the dial-up
networking functionality exists but making new connections is not possible.

Last week, I tried to use the Network Connection Wizard for opening a new
Account for a Broad-Band connection. That is when I found that after
selecting the Connect to Internet Option and clicking on Next, I found that
nothing happens. I cannot even create new desk-top icons for the existing
Dial-Up I S P connection or the new Broad-band Account.

Is there any way to repair Windows XP to make the Dial-Up Networking
operational? or can one get the latest version of I E and O E and install
them over the existing I E and O E.?

Let me recap if I may - initially when you opened IE or OE - dialing and
connection was automatic - now you must "manually" run dial-up. Autodial is
not a default setting. Under "Help and Support" search topic "auto dial"
and follow procedure.

No.

Before installing XP/SP1, I had a Folder named Dial-Up Networking in which I
had a shortcut to each
I S P, I had subscribed to. After SP1, the Dial-Up Networking Folder
disappeared or perhaps the double-clicking on the icons in it stopped
functioning. I started using the Send & Receive in O E or Go to a certain
web-address command for waking up Dial-up Networking. The Dial-Up networking
Box still pops up by these triggers.

After installing SP2, I find that I cannot Create a new Broadband or even a
dial-up connection. The icons for the dial-up I S Ps do not even show the
Properties of the I S Ps by right-clicking.
