Network connection is lost

I am running win 2k and nt assigned ip address. For no
apparent reason the network connection gets lost. I use
ipconfig /release and the / renew and it works.

Any help much appreciated.

Does it happen on only one PC? I'd start the troubleshooting by replacing
the network wire. If it still happens, I'd replace the NIC.
