Network connection after sleep mode / Microsoft 90 day Vista suppo

Several have had the same problem I experienced. I am running a brand new
top-of-the-line clean system with Vista Ultimate. After 100 minutes on the
phone with HP, we discovered that by simply removing and then automatically
reinstalling the network card driver, the problem was solved.

Second: When speaking with HP, they claimed Microsoft was responsible for
support on Vista. However, your website said my key was invalid. It turns out
the HP support tech discovered an hour later they are responsible.

When someone enters the key for the 90 days free support on your website, a
message should come up not saying it is invalid but directing the individual
to their hardware supplier for Vista support. It was very confusing and your
partners do not even seem clear on this.

Just to give you a tip--you do not have to reinstall the network adapter when
connection is lost after sleep--just use Diagnose and Repair by right
clicking on the network icon, let it look for a solution and allow it to
Reset the Adapter and it will reconnect. This has to be a candidate for an
update soon or Service Pack 1!

Hi, In addition to Mary post, it could be the power management of the Nic,
unsure if this was tested / tried. If not then this is not vista this was in
XP too but not has sensitive. With Dell PCs we remove Dell network
management as this causes the exact same issues (but we told Dell
that....;-), so its not only HP.

In addition depends whether what is on the end of your Nic as IPv6 causes
issues with routers / switches. Unticking this in network properties also
assists the waking up.

But as not aware of full issue and setup can only speculate.

Its not Microsoft, Its HP, their support for Vista is appalling generally.
However you do sometimes get an 'expert' who has taken the time to learn
Vista where others have thought that it aint that much different and try and
'wing it'

This is a Microsoft issue. I am a systems administrator at a community
college, and we are a 100% Dell Shop. After searching this issue for a couple
days it is clear the problem spans all types of systems. I have run into this
issue over and over again. Every time I come out of sleep mode, or am just
away from the computer overnight the net drops. it appears to be a DHCP
issue. I have tried many things i.e. disabling ipv6, but continually have to
reset network connection. The quickest way I have found, in another post, was
to run ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew from the command line. Of course
you have to Right Click on the Command Prompt icon and choose ran as
administrator to have the necessary rights to do so.
Vista presents all kinds of challenges……..

Another solution: Turn off UAC, solves the networking prob., and ends the
constant request to:"Allow or Denie"
