network browsing problems

heres the issue:
i have two servers: both are hooked up to a hub temporarily. server1 is the
domain controller and server2 is not on the domain but is on a workgroup by
itself. if i go into entire network on server1, i can see the domain, but
not the workgroup. if i go into entire network on server2, i can see the
workgroup but not the domain, and so obliviously my goal of trying to join
server2 to the domain is somewhat hindered. what should i do?

Do both servers have IP addresses from the same IP address range?

Can you ping one server from another?

Have you tried joining the workgroup server to the domain and it has
failed, or is it something you're planning on doing but haven't tried yet?

Have you verified that the network cables and cards are functioning
properly? How about the hub? Try plugging the cables into different ports
in the hub.

That information will be helpful in figuring out what's wrong.

good call on the ip address thing...on of the servers was not recieving an ip
address correctly. however, i still have a problem. here is how it is set
up: both servers recieve ip addresses from the same router, they can now
both see each other(each server can see both the domain and the workgroup, as
well as each server in each domain and workgroup) in entire network and ping
each other by name and by ip address. however, when i try and add server2 to
the domain, i recieve an error that says:

"The following error occured while trying to join the domain "domainname":
The network path could not be found. "

any suggestions?

You can try making sure the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service is running on the
computer that you are trying to join to the domain.

Also, an issue with Windows 2000 Server was that the File and Print Sharing
for Microsoft Networks option was not enabled on the Windows 2000 domain
controller, so other computers couldn't join the domain -- so it is
possible that enabling File and Print Sharing (if it isn't already enabled)
on the 2003 DC might help, I'm not sure, these are just a couple of guesses
for you.
