Network Bridging problem

I have a wireless USB on one subnet and a 2nd nic on another subnet in the
same PC. The wireless gets this PC out to the internet. But when I enable
Network Bridging for both network adapterss the PC loses connection to the
internet. I can no longer ping wireless default gateway. The 2nd nic does
not have a default gateway which I do not need. I kept all the default
settings. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

If the two NICs are on different subnets, creating a network bridge
won't work. The purpose of the network bridge is to combine two
physical networks into a single logical network with a single subnet.
I've written a web page with details:

XP ICS - Network Bridge
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/networkbridge.htm

Do the two NICs need to be on different subnets? What do you want the
Network Bridge to accomplish?

Thanks for replying. Both nics can be both on the same subnet. I am doing
this so that my XBOX 360 can get out to the net. I am doing all my testing
with PC first.
I will go ahead and give the 2nd nic an IP address that's in the same range
as my wireless adapter. Do I need a gateway and DNS for the 2nd nic.?

I'll go ahead a try this. Thank you.

Just did some testing and after putting both adapters on the same subnet the
PC still can no longer get on the net. What should my IP configuraion look
like on both adapters because after I bridge them the IP info is no longer
avaialble. And what should the tcpip properties of the Bridge look like?

Thank you,

You're welcome.

Don't assign an IP address to the 2nd NIC. Configure it to obtain an
IP address automatically before creating the Network Bridge.

If that doesn't work, remove the Network Bridge and enable Internet
Connection Sharing on the wireless USB connection. If it asks what to
use for the home (LAN) connection, tell it to use the 2nd NIC.

Hin the network bridging didn't work for me because the Wireless would lose
the IP address after bridging so it did not have access to my Access Point.

I did get the ICS working but it is behaving very strange from the ICS
Client PC. Not all websites load or very very slow for some sites to load
and fast for others. My Remote Desktop Connection works fine from ICS
client. I hooked up my XBOX 360 and it was able to link up to my XP media
center PC (PC with both NICS) but when I ran the XBOX Live connection test
it pass all test. But when it has to go out to the web and download some
files for XBox 360 it doesnt work. I think it times out because of the
strange behavior I describes above.

You think I have to open up Ports on my Access POint for Xbox 360 Live?

Thanks Again,

The problem with web sites could be caused by an incorrect MTU setting
on the client computer. Find the correct value as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computer, or use
DrTCP to make it:

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about the XBox. You can get help
with it in news groups microsoft.public.xbox and
microsoft.public.xbox.live.
