Network Bridge

I set up a wireless router. I have my laptop and desktop
up with both able to access the internet. The problem now
is linking the two computers. I don't see a network bridge
on my desktop. I did have an ethernet card on it to
connect to my cable modem before I set up the router. Do I
need the ethernet card? If so, I think that defeats the
wireless idea. Do I need an IEEE-1394 adapter or something
installed?? I would appreciate any suggestions.
