Hi,

Earlier this week I removed my ethernet PCI adapter using hardware
manager, removed the .sys file from windows\system32\drivers, physically
removed the card from my machine, and *then* installed a new adapter in
an attempt to improve network performance. This was a waste of time so I
repeated the procedure again and re-installed my first card.

Why has windows now named my card '10/100M Ethernet PCI Adapter #2'? I
don't have 2 cards and I removed this card from my system using device
manager and the drivers directory before physically removing it from my
system.

What do I need to edit in the registry to remove #2 from my device name,
its not causing any problems, its just a mild annoyance.

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris,

first thing I'd do is search the registry for that text.
